All eyes will be on star attraction Tiger Woods, pictured above, at next month's Ryder Cup in County Kildare, Ireland. But the Republic's food and drink suppliers are set to take their fair share of the limelight at the tournament, which pitches US golfers against their European rivals.
Bord Bia, one of the sponsors of the event, is pulling out all the stops to ensure the occasion is a showcase for Irish produce. Among its guests at the tournament - being staged in Ireland for the first time - will be more than 400 international food and drink buyers, representing a combined purchasing power of €64bn.
Bord Bia chairwoman Angela Kennedy said: "This event presents an unparalleled opportunity to attract influential international buyers here and build their awareness of the sector's capability."
More than 40 suppliers have already clinched orders worth €2m from the tournament's corporate hospitality and public catering companies.
