Look to own lAbel Premium own label whisky will play a greater role in the multiple grocers as they continue to put more emphasis on the value and price of their offers, according to the world's largest supplier to the sector, Invergordon Distillers. Invergordon is part of Jim Beam Brands and supplies 40% of the global market for exclusive label whiskies. Marketing controller Clive Miquel said own label whisky sales have been growing consistently over the past 10 years. In the UK the market is worth £175m of which malt accounts for 4%. He says this is set to grow as greater innovation comes to the market. In response to the interest in organics, Invergordon has come up with its own branded organic gin and vodka and exclusive label versions for Tesco,which the multiple unveiled last month. Miquel said: "We recognise that organic produce is increasingly appealing to consumers and this presents us with a tremendous business opportunity." {{FOCUS SPECIALS }}
