PepsiCo: going greener in collaboration with farms

PepsiCo put its green ambitions in black and white in its Passionate About Growing report last year.

The multinational spelt out how highly it values the sustainability of agricultural supply and UK farming, outlining its bold ambition of working alongside British farmers to reduce the carbon and water impact of its crops by 50% over the next five years.

Among the new technologies it is trialling are fertilisers that emit less carbon than traditional ones and the i-crop web-based crop management system that calculates water use and tracks carbon emissions. PepsiCo is also encouraging its growers to invest in low-carbon machinery and has run Sustainable Agriculture Workshops to show growers how new technology can reduce their carbon footprint.
