New IGD research will reveal that young people think long working hours are the biggest drawback to a career in the industry. Some 45% of 20 to 35-year-old members of the IGD's Leading Edge development network said poor hours was the worst feature of their job. But the research, due to be published in October, found that despite the hours, only 4% of the 115 managers asked were unsatisfied with their careers. Some 77% agreed the best feature about the fmcg industry was the level of challenge, reporting the level of challenge in their work was quite good or very good.
