Seventies iconic hairspray brand Harmony aims to add some colour to the haircare fixture and create a "new category" at the same time.
Brand owner Emvi is launching Harmony Hi-Shimmer, a temporary spray-on colourant which it claims will "glamourise hair in an instant".
The spray-on colour can be brushed or washed out and is being launched in response to consumer research which showed women want instant "catwalk looks".
Launching in August, a 125ml can will retail for £2.99.
A spokesman said: "Fashion moves at breakneck speed but the hair world does not. Hi-Shimmer allows women to keep reinventing their look without spending hours at the hairdressers."
