There are just days left to enter The Grocer Gold Awards - our quest to find the best suppliers and retailers in the industry.

The deadline is 16 March if you want the chance to be among companies recognised at a glittering ceremony to be held at The Dorchester on 13 June.

The awards, sponsored by Deloitte, Headcount, GS1 and Disney, are the most prestigious in food and drink - and also the most rigorous.

Many of the gongs are handed out only after we have quizzed consumers and retailers on who they rate the highest.

Other awards are handed out after judging by experts. There are awards for best business initiative, best consumer initiative, best own-label range, best independent retail chain and best wholesaler.

Tesco shone brightest at the 2006 event, scooping a hat-trick of trophies and beating off strong competition from Waitrose to win Grocer of the Year.

It was also named Britain's Favourite Supermarket in a Nielsen poll of 10,000 consumers on behalf of The Grocer, and pipped 2005's winner Ocado to pick up Online Retailer of the Year.
