The UK drinks industry has saved more than 32,000 tonnes of glass this year, which is the equivalent carbon saving of taking 6,800 cars off the road, claims packaging reduction body Wrap.

The organisation, which is working on the GlassRite Beer, Cider and Spirits project with 60 beer and cider brands, said it was confident that a further 80,000 tonnes could be saved.

Separately, InBev UK & Ireland has signed Stella Artois up to the Courtauld Commitment to cut waste. It is thought to be the first alcohol brand to do so.
