A selection of Britain's most popular and innovative grocery products are bidding for top honours in this year's prestigious SIAL d'Or competition. A total of nine products will be pitted against the best on offer from around the globe as a panel of international judges considers entries in 11 product and market categories. Masterfoods ice cream tubs, Birds Eye's Enjoy! frozen meals, Scofish canned salmon and mackerel, Kingsmill Whole White and Christian Salvesen's Tendafrost and Tendafresh ready-to-cook vegetables head The Grocer's shortlist. Tilda Rizazz microwaveable rice, Nescafé Hot When You Want self-heating cans of coffee, Archers Aqua and Heinz Simply Fruit and Vegetables range of purées for babies complete the British entry. Each was chosen by a panel of more than 50 senior buyers. They will be judged against entries from 25 other countries by a jury of journalists from each participating nation. The awards supported by The Grocer will be presented during the SIAL 2002 International Food Products Exhibition in Paris in October.
