Stewart Gilliland has been appointed Interbrew's regional president for the UK and Eire as part of a global restructuring programme. The region will become one of the Belgian brewer's eight global operating regions from April 1, and will be represented by Gilliland on Interbrew's worldwide operating committee. Gilliland, previously chief executive for Interbrew UK and Ireland, will also become md of the company's UK operation. He said: "This restructure emphasises the growing importance of the UK and Ireland to the worldwide success and growth of Interbrew." He joined Interbrew UK (then the Whitbread Beer Company) as a take-home regional account manager in 1987. He was appointed to the Whitbread board in 1994, and became take-home sales director in 1996.
