Magazine sales volumes are down by 4.36% year-on-year for the top 15 sectors compared to a decline of 5.48% for the total magazine market, according to the May edition of Comag's Insight. Both figures are, however, an improvement on last month's year-on-year changes. Within the top 15 sectors, the home interest and adult magazines sectors have improved, with year-on-year volume growth of 1.53% and 1.02% respectively. Both sectors reported a decline last month. Results have even improved for the men's lifestyle sector, the worst performing sector, with a decline of 45.38% compared to 49.40% last month. Outside of the top 15 sectors, religion continues its good run as the sector with the highest market share growth, up 0.12% year-on-year. Comag says that supermarkets continue to increase in performance, with some showing growth in magazine sales of more than 10% year-on-year, with Tesco's current trading 9.6% up year-on-year (up 5.9% like-for-like) for news and magazines. {{CTN }}
