UK speciality food producers will be given the chance to show off their wares at a global food show thanks to DEFRA funding. The Salone del Gusto show will be held in Turin from October 24-28 and is being organised by the Slow Food movement  an Italian-based organisation championing fine food. Speciality Food From Britain  a division of Food From Britain  will be subsidising UK exhibitors' costs from some of the £3m given to Food From Britain in May 2001 by DEFRA to aid recovery from foot and mouth disease. A panel comprising Slow Food UK, Food From Britain and industry specialists will decide who qualifies for exhibiting. FFB is inviting entries. FFB director of business and UK services Charlotte Lawson said: "This is a unique opportunity to reach thousands committed to speciality food and drink." "We hope British companies will join us in flying the flag for UK speciality produce." FFB said the show was also a market and exhibitors had the opportunity to further cover costs by selling their wares. Words: 181 {{NEWS }}
