A food manufacturer has apologised to suppliers after a number of years of underpayment to pig producers.
Yorkshire-based Cranswick, which this week announced pre-tax profit up 27% on turnover up 5% to £237.7m, said the company's board had only just become aware of the underpayments.
In a statement announcing the results, the company said: "It is disappointing to report that it recently came to the board's attention that underpayments had been made over a number of years."
The company said it had now made provision to correct the situation following a thorough review, which is nearing completion.
