United Biscuits has named Benoit Testard as its new chief executive.

Testard (pictured), who is currently managing director of the manufacturer's UK business, moves into his new role on 21 February.

Prior to becoming UK boss in 2004, Testard oversaw the Northern Europe business of the Jaffa Cakes and Hula Hoops maker.

David Fish, who has overseen the company as executive chairman since 2006, will become non-executive chairman following the switch.

Fish indicated that a successor to Testard as UK MD had yet to be finalised.

Last year UB was the subject of a failed takeover bid from Shanghai-based Bright Food Group.

Campbell’s Soup Co was also touted as a potential buyer but no agreement was reached and the group remains in the hands of its private equity owners, Blackstone and PAI Partners.
