Roland van Bommel is leaving Maxxium Worldwide, where he is chief executive, to join independent family distiller William Grant & Sons as chief executive.
He will take over the responsibilities handled by Bob Brannan, who temporarily took the helm at the company after chief executive Patrick Thomas left in April 2003. Brannan will retain the role of interim MD until next month when he becomes chairman of Dundee Football Club.
Van Bommel, who will join William Grant on November 1, was chief executive of Maxxium Worldwide for five years. Before that he held senior roles at Rémy Cointreau and Unilever.
Charles Grant Gordon, chairman of William Grant, whose brands include Glenfiddich single malt and Grant’s Scotch, said: “We are very pleased with the appointment of Roland van Bommel given his experience and track record.”
