Two of the UK's largest vegetable suppliers, Lingarden and Nationwide Produce Holdings, have joined forces in a joint venture ­ Verdian, based at the former's site near Spalding. It expects to cut costs while promoting best practice and traceability for prepacked and processed onion crops. The new company has already formed a further alliance with QV Foods which will supply potatoes and carrots. Between them the three companies will have a turnover of more than £120m. {{FRESH PRODUCE }}
