Reports that media and leisure giant Vivendi is talking to potential buyers of Oddbins are "quite wrong," according to Pernod Ricard. Pernod Ricard is in the process of acquiring the off licence chain as part of its joint purchase with Diageo of Seagram, Vivendi's drinks arm. As the new owners of Oddbins, Diageo and Pernod (rather than Vivendi) will handle the sale, said a Pernod Ricard spokesman. The fact that Vivendi will own Oddbins until the $8.15bn Seagram deal gains regulatory clearance is immaterial, he added. "They can't sell it twice." Press reports state that Vivendi has issued sales documents for Oddbins to potential buyers, valuing the chain at £65m. {{NEWS }}
