Good old Waitrose. While many supermarkets have come under fire for encouraging underage drinking, Waitrose has been reluctant to sell any at all. Or so a 47-year-old grandmother of two must have thought after being denied buying a bottle of wine because she could not prove she was over 18. Even her 22-year-old daughter, who did have ID, was refused a purchase, in case she gave the bottle to her mum. This week, Waitrose launched a 25%-off deal on all wine. But only if you've got ID.
