Wal-Mart has raised its forecast for like-for-like sales in its stores in June.

The retail giant said that it expects to see a 4.5% increase in like-for-like sales, instead of the forecast increase of 2-4%.

Strong sales of seasonal items and general merchandise sales stronger than food sales had led to the increase, Wal-Mart said.

Wal-Mart is expected to release its June sales figures on Thursday.
