Wal-Mart has reported total sales growth of 9.3% with a like-for-like sales increase of 2.2% for the five week period to 2 July. Sales for the 22-week period increased by 12.3% compared to the same period last year.

Above-average categories for the five-week period were listed as consumables, including food, paper goods and pet supplies. Electronics was also a strong growth area.

International sales for the company were up 14.4%, compared to the same five week period last year. The strengths in the International division reportedly came from Argentina, Brazil, China and Puerto Rico.
