A day before her official appearance at the Royal Welsh Show, Welsh agriculture secretary Christine Gwyther was ejected from First Secretary Rhodri Morgan's cabinet. Gwyther, who has had a stormy time  including three censure motions  since her appointment 15 months ago, will be replaced by her deputy Carwyn Jones. Jones is Welsh Assembly member for Bridgend. The change has been welcomed by farming organisations who were hostile from the outset to the appointment of a vegetarian to the post. However, some insiders believe Gwyther has been made a scapegoat for the cabinet's failure to secure EU support to help farmers. On his way to the Royal Welsh Show, Jones said: "I am going simply to listen. I know I will hear a great deal about the current problems in the agricultural sector and the wider rural economy. I am very conscious of the massive challenges ahead." {{NEWS }}
