AC Ward wants to recruit 25 new stores "as soon as possible" following its purchase of Essex based EV Saxton, announced last week (The Grocer, April 19, p5).
MD James Ward said the new combined AC Ward business had a turnover of £80m and supplied 45 Nisa Day Today stores and 30 former Saxton Key Stores. He plans to boost that turnover, adding new stores under both Nisa and Key Lekkerland fascias, which "each have their own merits". He added: "Key Store has not been developed in the Saxton's area."
AC Ward will add 1,200 lines, including a complete range of chilled and licensed products to bring its range up to 4,500 lines when it tranfers from Kelvedon to Saxton's premises in West Thurrock.
