The Association of Convenience Stores has welcomed proposals from the Home Secretary for the first government manufacturing and retail crime survey since 1994. David Blunkett said the survey would measure the scale of crime against business in England and Wales. It would be the first step in establishing a business crime partnership between the government the private sector aimed at cracking down on crime. The British Retail Consortium, which already conducts annual retail crime surveys, said it would co-operate with the government. BRC crime director John Simpson said: "We need the government to put money into retail crime reduction partnerships." {{NEWS }}
