Retailers believe the Government's top priority in supporting the retail sector should be to reduce business rates, a poll by the ACS has revealed.

The poll, held at the Convenience Retailing Show earlier this month, also found retailers wanted Government to abandon the tobacco display ban; introduce a supermarket regulator; take tougher action against thieves; and stop minimum wage increases.

"We will take this message to the Government as part of our ongoing campaigning work," said CEO James Lowman.
