The European Commission proposals include:

nNutrition: The regulations will ban misleading claims such as “90% fat free” which often means “contains 10% fat” and set parameters for vague claims such as “low fat” and “high fibre”

nHealth: The EC will produce a list of permitted health claims that manufacturers can use as long as they present scientific justification. But no health claims will be allowed for foods that, for example are particularly high in fat, saturated fats, sugar or salt
