Food and Farming minister Lord Whitty continued his marathon walk along the food chain this week with a visit to the major publication for the industry ­ the head office of The Grocer.
At the invitation of the retiring editor, Clive Beddall, the DEFRA minister met management and staff and saw the technological production advances installed by the the magazine's publisher, William Reed.
After touring the magazine's Broadfield Park centre, Crawley, Lord Whitty, who was joined by constituency MP Laura Moffatt, said: "The Grocer is an important and integral part of the food chain. It is the most important paper for the food trade.
"I have been much impressed by the scope of the facilities which back its delivery every week.
"In addition, I was delighted to have the chance to discuss some of the issues facing the industry in the coming months."
