Delhaize confident it will recover
BRUSSELS: Delhaize, the Belgian supermarket group, has expressed confidence that it will achieve profit growth in the second half of the year following disappointing results for the year so far. "The situation in the first quarter has continued into the second so far," said chief executive Pierre-Olivier Beckers. "We have said profit growth will come in the second half." Two weeks ago the supermarket announced revenue had declined 4.5% to €4.5bn as a result of the weakening dollar against the euro.
