Support for organic cotton farmers

BENTONVILLE, ARKANSAS: Wal-Mart has purchased more than 12 million pounds of cotton from farmers moving from conventional farming to organic farming. The 'transitional' cotton has been bought from about 1,000 farmers at the same cost as organic cotton and will be used to make t-shirts for Wal-Mart's environmental campaign Earth Month, which runs throughout April. "To grow the organic cotton industry we need to support the farmers who are moving from conventional to organic farming," said Wal-Mart organic cotton supplier La Rhea Pepper.
