Wal- Mart cuts price of 16,000 lines

Bentonville, Arkansas: Wal-Mart has launched an aggressive price-cutting campaign in the US, slashing the price of more than 16,000 products. The cuts coincide with the launch of a new advertising campaign that focuses on the importance of saving money while petrol prices remain high and children return to school. "We'll provide families with savings where it counts, and continue to work closely with key suppliers, reduce packaging and lower shipping costs as we steer this programme through autumn and beyond," said Bill Simon, executive vice president and chief operations officer of Wal-Mart Stores US.
