The ACS is calling for a new law to be introduced making crime against convenience stores and their staff a special offence punishable by tougher sentences. The call came after a Joseph Rowntree report showed a quarter of 14 to 15 year olds admitted stealing from shops in the past 12 months and one third had participated in criminal damage. One in four 15 to 16-year-olds had carried a weapon and one in five admitted attacking someone. {{NEWS }}
