CadburyTreborBassett is raising the stakes in the battle for leadership in licensed Christmas confectionery by adding two limited edition packs to its Lord of the Rings range.
The arrival of sugar-based Jelly Rings and Fruits of the Shire in December will coincide with the launch of the second film in the Tolkien trilogy.
The newcomers join the brand's chocolate offerings [revealed in The Grocer, May 25 2002] ­ a selection box, an Advent calendar and a seven-bar tube of Dairy Milk ­ and will provide strong competition for Masterfoods' Harry Potter seasonal products.
Jelly Rings are lemon, pineapple, orange and strawberry flavoured (rsp: 30p, 42g), while Fruits of the Shire feature four different shapes, flavours and colours (rsp: 99p, 180g).
