Confectionery brand Tunnock's has shifted the focus of its teacake television advertising to create a more modern image and home in on the product's credentials as a low-calorie treat.

The new commercial, on air now, is set in a contemporary art gallery where a Tunnock's teacake is the focal point, with a focus on each cake's 106-calorie count. It is targeted at consumers who "simply wouldn't have Tunnock's on their radar before now", the company said.

Previous advertising has been centred around the "historic popularity" of the brand.
