Richmond Ice Cream has launched the handheld products in a bid to generate interest in the category in the winter. Rolo and After Eight will be available in both sticks and cones with Smarties in a cone. A pack contains 4x100ml cones and 3x100ml sticks.
The three flavours have previously only been available in 950ml tubs. The new entrants will be backed by a promotional campaign on all packs, with a £1 promotion to drive purchase.
“The individual ice cream sector is reliant on gondola-end support in retailers, but in winter these are given to other products such as turkeys,” said marketing director Kate Needham. “The huge value price point will maximise sales, increasing retailer returns and encouraging consumer loyalty.”
