Constellation Brands on posted a 25% jump in third quarter sales on the back of its acquisition of Aussie wine group BRL Hardy.

Sales rose to $1.21bn from $969.8m and net income before tax increased 22% to $129.4m from $106m last year.

Constellation's UK wholesale operations saw double digit growth in sales of beers and a 16% rise in wine sales led by Aussie brands Banrock Station and Hardys.

Overall, Constellation said consolidated net sales of wine increased 34%, imported beers, which include Corona Extra, increased 17%, while spirits sales fell 4%.
