Exports of Uruguayan beef into the UK have risen 67% year-on-year, reaching a high of 12,200 tonnes per week, according to Global Trade Information Services.

Exports to the EU as a whole reached 36,200 tonnes by the end of June, more than double the previous year’s total, as Uruguay took advantage of domestic export restrictions imposed by Brazilian and Argentinian authorities on their meat sectors. Uruguay switched exports from the US in order to increase its sendings to the EU and Russia.
