Utting joins as trading director for grocery from Walkers, where he was business growth director. Before that he held sales and marketing roles at Coca-Cola and worked as a general manager in operations.
In his new role Utting will oversee a team of 38 and a channel worth £500m in annual sales for UBUK, reporting directly to sales director Martin Totty. The move follows the repositioning of the company as a total snack foods provider after the merger of its biscuits, snacks and cake categories into a single business entity (The Grocer, Sept 6, 2003, p18). Utting is the latest senior appointment at the company.
Other recent moves include the appointment of Will Carter as UBUK managing director in the wake of the departure of Colin Hutchison. In November, Bulmers group marketing director John Eggleton joined as marketing director.
Totty said Utting would strengthen UBUK’s customer management team as it looked to drive growth across its portfolio of sweet and savoury snack food brands.
