Chilean winery Anakena is launching its first blended wine, the only member of its range exclusive to one retailer.

It met the requirements of The Co-operative Group to produce a Chardonnay Viognier, which will hit the shelves of 1,200 stores this month, priced at £4.99 with annual promotions at £3.99.

Anakena's commercial director Raul Beckdorf said: "We are focused on growing the brand in the UK, and this deal is a great step forward."

The winery was one of the Chilean forerunners in exploring lesser-known white wine grape varieties, in which there has been growing interest in the UK market.
