The value of John Lewis click and collect orders delivered to Waitrose stores hit a record high this week of £2.2m.
The John Lewis clearance sale starting on Thursday last week fed the increase in sales via Waitrose which have been growing as the two partner retailers build their click and collect collaboration.
The number of Waitrose stores where John Lewis customers can pick up their online orders has been increasing over the past year. In April, the retailers said there would be 194 Waitrose stores offering the service by the end of May.
This week, John Lewis managing director Andy Street told delegates at the BRC Retail Symposium that the collaboration with Waitrose had been a “great success” and that the retailer would be looking to partner with other retailers. The service had required a “sea change” in distribution and logistics, he added.
