Waitrose has promoted retail services director Ben Stimson to director of retail operations in the north of the country.
Stimson takes over from Mark Wilson, who has left the business. Stimson previously worked as head of retail operations for Waitrose branches in the South East and as managing director of John Lewis Leicester. Prior to the John Lewis Partnership, he was a director at BSkyB.
To replace Stimson as retail services director, Waitrose has promoted Helen Keppel-Compton, who is currently head of procurement, partnership services. Prior to that, she was head of multichannel content at John Lewis and worked for 16 years in the John Lewis buying team.
Both Stimson and Keppel-Compton will report directly to Waitrose retail director Rob Collins.
“Ben and Helen each bring a proven track record and a wealth of experience to these key areas of our business,” said Collins.
Stimson’s appointment comes as Waitrose looks to expand significantly across the north of England and Scotland in the coming years. Last week, it officially opened a £35m depot in Leyland, Lancashire, to help service the growing number of stores in the region.
