Waitrose has come up trumps in this year’s Red, White & Bacon awards.

It was named mult of the year for its free-range unsmoked dry cured back bacon, produced by Dalehead Foods. Vion’s Case & Sons won brand of the year with its Connoisseurs’ Cure, while Southover Food Company won the foodservice category and Denstone Hall Farm Shop was named independent butcher of the year.

The awards kicked off Bacon Connoisseurs’ Week, which is fronted by Angela Rippon.
