Walkers Shortbread was yesterday crowned the Food and Drink Exporter of the Year 2007 at the prestigious Food from Britain Export Awards, sponsored by The Grocer.

The shortbreads, biscuits, cakes and oatcakes manufacturer also walked away with the Scottish Exporter of the Year award.

“Walkers Shortbread is certainly a worthy recipient of the Exporter of the Year award and the judging panel was impressed with its intelligent approach to exporting,” said John Adams, CEO of Food From Britain.

“It is clear that exporting forms a solid part of the company's strategy for growth and the decision to conduct business in the currency of its customer across 15 top export markets is testament to its success today.”

Lossie Seafoods picked up the Food Exporter of the Year award, while Llanllyr Water was crowned Drinks Exporter of the Year.

Other winners included French retailer Carrefour, for International Retailer of the Year, Greencore Grocery for Private Label Exporter of the Year and The Big Squeeze Fresh Juice Company for New Exporter of the Year.
