The UK is becoming a less attractive market for fresh produce exporters as sterling weakens against the euro, according to Agrexco
The falling currency value meant Israeli producers were considering switching to other European markets, said Oded Yacovson, UK general manager at the Israeli fruit and veg specialist.
Israeli companies were now only receiving 6.8 shekels to the pound compared with 8.5 five months ago, he added.
The UK currently represents about 35% of Agrexco's business. The company supplies fruit, veg, herbs and flowers to supermarkets.
