Northern Irish beef and lamb producers say they're confident that a new promotional campaign will help to reassure consumers in the face of England's foot and mouth problems. "Northern Ireland is FMD-free," said a spokeswoman for the Livestock and Meat Commission. "It's important for consumers to be reassured about beef and lamb - we don't want them to stop eating it."

As part of the campaign, which has been planned for months, the LMC has launched www.lovebeefandlamb.com and plans a week of targeted promotional activity in October. Themes will include nutritional benefits and culinary tips.
