Blakemore Wholesale has bagged a £60m contract with motorway services company Roadchef.

The five-year contract, which starts this month, is worth about £12m a year.

As part of the contract, Blakemore will provide confectionery, grocery, chilled foods, tobacco and motor oils to forecourt stores and WH Smith motorway service shops. Roadchef has 20 sites across the UK and serves 60 million customers a year.

The win comes just six months after Blakemore’s foodservice business secured a three-year catering contract with Roadchef worth £7m a year.

“This is a great win for Blakemore Wholesale and further enhances our credentials as a credible alternative to the existing operators in the marketplace,” said Blakemore Wholesale managing director Sam Wilcox.

“We’ve created a bespoke solution for Roadchef and we’re delighted to be working with them in developing a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership.”

Blakemore Wholesale had further plans to expand its national distribution service, he added.
