Jempson’s has become the latest independent retailer to take on the multiples with a deep discount offer on fuel.

Until 25 January, the Sussex-based retailer is giving shoppers a voucher for 15p per litre off fuel if they spend £60 or more at its Peasmarsh or Hawkhurst stores. The deal is being promoted in store and on social media.

Jempson’s move comes in the same week Asda sparked a price war among the mults by reducing the price of a litre of petrol by 2p to 126.7p and diesel by 2p to 133.7p - the lowest price for diesel since July 2012

Fellow Nisa indie Harry Tuffins ran a 15p per litre off fuel deal if shoppers spent £75 in store in September.
