JJ Food Service has added to its range of frozen chips.

The wholesaler said the latest variant in its Super Crisp Chip range, the Chippy Chip, would help fish and chip shops and mobile caterers save time, labour, and overhead costs.

“Prepping your own potatoes is an ideal way to make traditional chips, but it can also be expensive and time consuming,” said JJ Food Service group manager Terry Larkin.

“We’ve noticed that attitudes in this area are changing and our customers are being more open-minded about new ways of doing things - our new chip is a perfect alternative or ‘back up’ to freshly cut chips.”

The open days are being held at the following locations from 11am-3pm:

16 July, Doncaster

23 July, Newcastle

20 August, Manchester

27 August, Leeds

The company said a special coating gave the new chip a unique, crispy texture, which retains heat and crispiness for longer.

“We all dread the soggy chip”, added Larkin. “Our chips are consistently crunchy even with takeaway orders - particularly if you use our sturdy cardboard packaging. Using frozen chips also helps to cut down on waste and support portion control, too.”

The chips are made with sunflower oil in a gluten-free environment and are available at a promotional price of £5.79/4x2.27kg until 30 June.

JJ Food Service has partnered with mobile fish & chip specialist Flipping & Frying to offer free fish & chip open days at the company’s branches across the country to showcase the product.
