JJ Food Service is rolling out Argos-style terminals to all of its branches.

The company’s customers will be able to place orders using a bank of touchscreen computers at new reception areas - and drink free Coca-Cola and Lavazza coffee - while they wait for their orders to be picked.

JJ has already installed the system at its Leeds, Bristol and Enfield branches and plans to roll it out to its remaining five depots by the end of next year.

Discounts were offered to customers who ordered online because of the lower telesales and delivery overheads, said JJ.

Meanwhile, the wholesaler has trebled its sales in the Leeds area since opening a new depot there in October.
