A fleet of eco-friendly Smiths News lorries have hit London’s streets to comply with the city’s Low Emission Zone.
The 14 lorries have also been designed to improve communication for drivers and customers. They are fitted with GPS to enable staff to provide accurate delivery time information to retailers, on-board cameras to record incidents, and Bluetooth communication. They also have beacons that won’t dazzle flight crew, to meet strict airside regulations.
The lorries will operate from Smiths’ London Travel News depot in Slough, which delivers to retailers at Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stansted airports, as well as London’s mainline railway stations.
