United Wholesale Scotland has notched up a 10% increase in full-year sales.

The Today’s Group member’s turnover rose from £167.1m to £184.2m in the year to 31 December 2011, according to accounts filed at Companies House. Pre-tax profits more than tripled to £1.6m.

The increase was down to the sales mix of its products, as well as the development of its symbol operations, it said.

“The directors are particularly pleased with further progress made in terms of future-proofing our core business in developing our symbol company operation,” MD Asim Sarwar said.

The accounts also revealed UWS had launched two new companies - online discount deals business Today’s Great Deal and phone app Calljuggler.com.

Today’s Great Deal would return a profit in the year to 31 December 2012, while the development of Calljuggler.com was continuing, the directors added.
