Television presenter and wine enthusiast Phillip Schofield is to be the face of Wine Relief 2005, which will bring suppliers and retailers together to raise money for Comic Relief.
All the main supermarkets and off-licence chains are
taking part in the initiative. Schofield said: “Wine Relief is one of the most enjoyable ways of raising money that I have come across and I am delighted to be involved.”
Wine Relief starts on February 1, with 10% from sales of selected wines going to Comic Relief until Red Nose Day on March 11.
The wine scheme has raised an accumulative total of more than £1.2m since 1999 and the aim is to break the £2m mark this year. The theme of Red Nose Day 2005 is ‘Big Hair and Beyond - Just do Something’.
