Robert Wiseman Dairies said first-half profit rose 24% after it boosted sales to supermarkets.

To September 28 the Scottish milk processor said pre-tax profit rose to £11.1m from £10.1m last year.

Sales increased 4.9% £187.2m as the firm sold more milk to Sainsbury, Safeway and Somerfield supermarkets.

Wiseman expects to sell more than 1 billion litres of milk during the year, “a major milestone for the company”.

Chairman Alan Wiseman said: “We remain confident that we are on track to deliver continued growth in the period ahead.”
